FAQs

  • The choice to go to therapy is one that should be approached with care and consideration. Therapy can be a place to sort out your thoughts, learn new ways of thinking and feeling, as well as practice skills that can help you improve your life. Whether you are looking to address a specific concern or simply engage in therapy to help you better understand yourself and the people around you - therapy can help! Collaborating with a trained, licensed professional can help create the conditions you may need to make the changes you would like to see in your life. While therapy cannot change all of life circumstances, it can help to have a place to address our reactions to our circumstances.

  • We believe therapy is commitment of both your time and financial resources. A 90 minute intake session costs $300 and subsequent sessions vary in cost based on the length of the appointment. We would be happy to discuss our fees with you during your consultation appointment. Full fees are collected at the time of your appointment.

  • We are out of network with all insurance companies, meaning that we do not accept insurance. Many insurance companies offer the opportunity to reimbursed for services through the use of your out-of-network (OON) benefits. Health savings accounts (HSAs) may also be able to be utilized. We are able to provide you with the needed documentation for you to submit to your insurance company. We can arrange for you to receive an invoice after each attended session as well as a monthly superbill that will include all information needed for you to file for reimbursement. We encourage you to check with your insurance company or human resources department to know what you are eligible for. We cannot guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you.

  • We typically like to begin meeting with someone once a week, for at least 4-6 weeks, and then determine whether weekly feels like the best pace for treatment.

Sometimes people need to meet more frequently in the beginning to build rapport and momentum, and there can be other times where it’s certainly fine to meet biweekly. We can collaboratively explore your unique needs, wants, expectations, and goals, and then we will adjust a time frame for the meeting that works for you.

While we do not dictate how frequently we need to meet, we know from experience that therapy can become less useful when sessions are sporadic and widely spaced apart.

  • During your initial consultation we will meet virtually to discuss your current needs and answer any questions you may have about our services. Our providers will ask questions to see if we’re a good fit for one another. Your consultation can be a great time to get an impression of what therapy would be like.

  • During your first therapy visit you will be welcomed with warmth and respect for your personhood. We will spend time exploring the reasons you are coming into therapy, what you would like to see change as a result of therapy, as well as gaining an understanding of your unique personal story. We will also review all the information that would be helpful for you to know at the start of therapy including the confidentiality agreement and other important policies and details. While we believe that clinical expertise is an important component of the therapeutic process, we place a very large emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. Throughout our time during the initial visit we will see if we are a good fit both personally and clinically. Towards the end of the initial session we will work to develop some initial goals for treatment.

  • At Vital Voyages, our services are designed for the person who needs more time. They’ve likely tried a “quick fix” that alleviated the symptom, but may not have gotten to the root of the concern. They may need more time to “take the armor off” or maybe need more time to better understand and apply the concepts discussed in therapy.

We often see clients for 12-16 months to truly get submerged in their world and attend to their concerns. Many of our clients vary in the frequency of appointments throughout their treatment time.
