Vital Voyages Psychological Services

Hey! I am Dr. Bryanna Campbell, a licensed psychologist currently based in North Carolina.

I started Vital Voyages Psychological Services to honor the Black women who came before me, the Black women I see in the present, and the Black women I have yet to meet. I come from a lineage of highly ambitious women who got it done. Whatever it was, they made it happen for themselves, for their families, and even for their communities. When hearing and witnessing their stories I often found myself caught up in their accomplishments, but also curious about their inner worlds. What I noticed was a dedication to bettering their lives, but not feeling very connected or attuned to themselves or the people they cared for. It was as if survival had outpaced their thriving. Generationally, I have observed this showing up as grand achievements with accompanying feelings of disconnection.

During my years of clinical work I have seen this show up in many ways. People who are absolutely spectacular on paper, and yet they feel so far away from themselves and maybe even the people around them. I have found deep fulfillment and passion in working with these individuals to help them explore and reconnect with themselves and enrich their relationships.

I have likened this experience to going on a voyage to places that have not yet been deeply explored. The voyage to your self-exploration and understanding is vital, hence our name, Vital Voyages. I wanted to create a practice for the person who needs more time to really explore, discover, and make the changes they want to see in their lives that improve the quality of their mental wellness.

When you feel secure in who you are, what you want, and what you value - you are powerful.

To the woman has the courage to dream and go after it…

To the high achiever...

To the person who holds it all for others, but wonders who will hold it for you…

I see you. I hear you. I value you. Vital Voyages is a space for you.

Welcome.

  • I am an introvert

I gain energy and restoration by spending time alone. Some wonder how it is possible to be both introverted and a psychologist, but I consider my introversion and sensitivity as strengths that help me feel attuned to the world around me. I believe it helps me continually develop my observation skills.

    I love to laugh

When I’m not working you can catch me watching a new comedy special, watching Abbott Elementary or laughing with loved ones and friends. I believe the human experience is expansive, and sometimes we all need a good laugh.

I’m an Adult Child of Immigrants

Through research and personal experience, I have found that there are unique experiences that occur between generations of immigrant families which has fostered my passion for working with adult children of immigrants.

    I love plants and nature

When I’m not working I am probably buying plants or tending to my plant collection. I’ll admit, they don’t always love me back (I’m looking at you Calatheas), but being near nature beings me a sense of peace and serenity in a world that often feels overstimulating. The idea that plants know what they need and communicate it is a reminder to me to be clear about what I need.
